Implement of improvement of calorie system since July 2012
Since July 2012, the city gas tariff has been changed from the volume unit to the calorie unit. The existing city gas rate has been calculated based on the volume used, but as of July 1, 2012, we will pay the actual amount of gas used. This action is for the correct that mix expesive LPG or import high calorie LNG in order to increasing city gas calorie, even in the global LNG low-calorie trend, so actualize the charge system.
If the calorie standard is lowered, you will not be required to purchase high calorific LNG in the world market or to mix high-caloric LPG, thus reducing the cost burden. In the long-term perspective, it will reduce on city gas rate rasie figure. As the calories go down, the usage may increase slightly, but not at the level that customers will experience. For example, assuming that it takes 300 seconds to cook ramen, the total cooking time is insignificant enough to not feel 301.8 seconds (0.6% increase).
There is absolutely nothing that the consumer needs to do to change to a calorie-based plan. The calorie value of the city gas rate is measured by the gas calorimeter installed at the gas supply points of 100 gas stations nationwide of KOGAS, so consumers do not need to install a separate gas calorimeter.
